Project Proposal

What the proposal should include

Your proposal should contain:

  • Introduction:
    Objectives; purpose and explanations of why the project must be carried out in Galapagos; and previous work in the islands if any;
  • Proposed Methods of Investigation:
    Detailed information on methods and sampling techniques (including numbers of animals to be analyzed, equipment to be used, etc) and proposed study sites.
  • Logistics and timing:
    Detailed field work activities intended to carry out in the islands, including proposed itinerary and dates.
  • Samples and collections:
    Precise information on any intended collections, their estimated numbers, their purpose, and future deposition;
  • Personnel involved:
    Curriculum vitae of all research personnel participating in the project, including publications;
  • Funding for the project:
    Organizations supporting and funding the project.

After the project proposal is approved

If your project is approved, the Director of the Galapagos National Park will issue a research permit. This decision will be based on comments from the Director of the Charles Darwin Research Station (CDRS), officials from the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) in accordance with the agreement between the Ecuadorian Government and the CDF, and other scientific authorities (i.e. universities and other research institutions or committees) in their capacity as scientific advisors to the GNP.

Logistic Support for field work

The CDRS provides logistical assistance for projects; an expeditionary fee is charged for this service for each day of your stay in the Galapagos Islands. Once you are notified that the project proposal has been accepted, you will get in contact to our External Cooperation Unit for all the logistic arrangements at cientificos@fcdarwin.org.ec.
