Swimming Dinosaurs?

KIDS' CORNER!

Is It True That There Are Swimming Dinosaurs on the Galapagos?

No ... not really. But in the Galapagos you can find marine iguanas ... and you won't find them anywhere else in the whole world!!! These iguanas look like dinosaurs but they are modern day reptiles like their cousins, the land iguanas.

These marine iguanas swim in the ocean and eat ocean plants, called algae. Then they swim back to the land and digest their food while lying on the hot lava rocks in the sun. Most of the marine iguanas are black but some of them have bright colors on their backs. When you come to the Galapagos, you will see these iguanas in lots of places. Just the other day, I saw one walking right down the middle of the street !!! No kidding, they are everywhere !!!
