The Galapagos National Park (GNP), the management authorities of the Galapagos National Park and Marine Reserve, regulate filming activities in the Galapagos. GNP approves all requests for filming permissions according to established criteria aimed at protecting the uninhabited areas of Galapagos. The prerequisites for film groups can be obtained by contacting the GNP Communications and Media Coordinator directly at comunicacion@spng.org.ec
Interested parties must submit a formal letter to the director of the Galapagos National Park requesting authorization to film in Galapagos, either in the Galapagos National Park or Marine Reserve. E-mail requests are accepted and help to speed up the process, but final authorization will only be granted upon receipt of an original letter sent via regular mail or fax to:
Director, Parque Nacional Galápagos
Puerto Ayora, Isla Santa Cruz
Islas Galápagos
Ecuador
Phone: +593-5-2526511
Requests must include copies of the following documents
- Script and film objectives
- Crew names and passports, positions, as well as a detailed list of equipment
- Proposed itinerary and vessel to be chartered
- Name of person representing group in Ecuador
- Name of company financing the filming project.
