This January 29, 2016 an inter-institutional Cooperation Agreement between the National Fisheries Institute (INP), represented by the General Director MSc. Edwin Moncayo, and the Charles Darwin Foundation, represented by the Executive Director, Dr. Arturo Izurieta Valery was signed.
Through this framework of inter-institutional agreement the goal is to strengthen and intensify links between the parties for the implementation of tasks in common areas designed to contribute to the scientific work and research in the Galapagos archipelago.
Dr. Arturo Izurieta indicates that "The agreement with the INP is an excellent opportunity for the development of the scientific work of the Charles Darwin Foundation in Galapagos. The INP is an institution of excellence in Ecuador and we are honored to have this opportunity to work together".
Agreement:
The INP and CDF will perform research activities, technological development, knowledge transfer, according to the needs and strategic work plans of each of the parties, through collaborative projects or the eventual integration of joint working teams.
The INP and the CDF will develop joint projects drawing on both the technical and research strengths, such as knowledge and field experience of each of the parties respectively. Likewise, the search for funds for the implementation of joint projects will be joint and coordinated.
Finally the INP and the CDF will establish mechanisms and instruments for sharing experiences, equipment, human resources, automated, technical, scientific, regulatory and methodological information except that considered confidential or proprietary. The information will be used internally, without providing it to third parties or use it for other purposes than those to improve or perfect their own internal activities, except written authorization of the other party.
